We understand that one size does not always fit all when you’re considering surveying your staff, students, or parents.
While we’re always happy to offer our customers a “full-service” approach, we also recognize that school funding is a challenge, making third-party surveys seem out of reach.

For those with tight budgets or for those of you who simply prefer to run a survey yourself, we offer an alternative – a DIY option of sorts.
We call it the Key Measurements System (KMS).
The KMS is a subscription-based survey system which uses our School Perceptions platform and includes more than 20 staff, student, and parent surveys. Subscribers can choose to implement any or all of the surveys whenever they like during the school year.
There is also the option of self-administrating some of the surveys and having School Perceptions administrate others, sort of an a-la-carte offering. You head down that cafeteria line of survey services and pick out what you want: survey customization, administration, reports, and so on.
Whichever method is used, our goal is to make sure that our customers’ survey deployment process goes smoothly. If DIY is the preferred method, we are always here for support.
Because I’m a fan of this DIY idea, I wanted to give you an idea of how manageable the KMS process is.
Thus, I’ve written my own “five-easy-steps” blog on self-implementation using the School Perceptions platform.
How to launch a survey in (about) five steps
STEP 1 - Choose a survey:
Before you deploy a survey, it’s natural to want to know what questions you’d ask. You can preview or download a PDF of the survey questions before you begin. As you review the survey, think about whether you’d like to use the survey as-is or if you would like to add additional items or questions of your own. Click the wrench next to the survey to move on to the next step.

STEP 2 - Take a (very) short survey yourself
Next, you will be automatically directed to a three-question survey. This survey helps us to understand how much help you might need. For instance, you’ll be asked if you’d like any changes made. If your answer is yes, an email will automatically be sent to your account manager, who will contact you ASAP. If you don’t need any help or changes made, you can move very quickly through steps 3-5.

STEP 3 - Proof your survey
Click “Preview Survey.” This will allow you to move through the survey and actually answer questions without storing any data to see exactly how it will appear to survey-takers.
If changes are needed, you can reach out to your account manager or call our main phone line for help.
STEP 4 - Load recipient email addresses
Once the survey meets your approval, click on the “Email Survey” button to get started uploading contacts; this step is painless, I promise! To quickly learn how, you’ll see a link to our one-minute tutorial video.

STEP 5 - Send the survey!
Once you’ve entered your list of contacts, you are ready to launch your survey. This is the best part! Simply click “Email Survey.” That’s it! After the survey has been sent, you’re able to send out reminder emails as needed.
